Exactly. Kinda my entire point with my (albeit snarky) response by saying that page uses “94,400kB” of data, is unfair, and thus why I think the page weight metric is unfair. See my thread with Patak here bsky.app/profile/zoei... It’s not entirely useless but without other info it’s not very helpful
Yeah, I really think a lot of people only focus on middle to high end devices/networks/whatever. I also feel as though it’s unlikely to change. The direction technology continues to move in cares less about performance because there’s not *much* of a need to and we end up leaving those who do behind

Sad, but understandable I guess. Other front ends can still decide to display them though, like that one time that one person hosted a website over the atprotocol

I also don’t think that’s a bad thing really. I’m more so using it as an example that page weight doesn’t really tell you anything. I agree with the *sentiment* that the web is getting more bloated, but I don’t think page weight is a good indicator of that.

I find this criticism very funny when the source linked pulls in 94,400kB of data

A file system is the worst kind of database and a database is the worst kind of file system. If you want to store files, use a file system, if you want to store data, use a database.

I think it’s more when you start to have thousands of tests, typically on large test driven enterprises applications, that testing starts to get slow

War. War never changes.
Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything: from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage.

I couldn’t agree more. Charlie Kirk was not a good person, but that doesn’t justify pissing on his grave or celebrating his death. We must extend the same respect to him as we expect from everyone.

Most people don’t. Instead they go to their carrier who will give them the new iphone “on us”, as long as you sign a 3 year contract. Most of phones nowadays are sold nearly business to business, the majority of people aren’t buying phones with cash anymore.

Obviously none of what really any of them are doing is good, but if they stop themselves we won’t have to do it ourselves

It sounds like all these government organizations are stepping on top of each other because of conflicting direction and little communication, and tbh I’m all for it lol
