The Red Sea is one of the world’s most enduring arteries of human trafficking.
Building off earlier initiatives, this conference aims to consolidate the subfield of Red Sea slavery studies by expanding the scope of inquiry beyond the processes that enslaved people.

ZMO invites applications for the Oman Research Grant 2026. The grant comprises funding for a research stay in Berlin of up to 3 months in 2026 at ZMO, as well as travel costs to Berlin.
The grant is funded by Deutsche Oman-Stiftung (German Oman Foundation).
