Since headline semantics is a genre here, I’d say there’s a small distinction, and one that unfortunately doesn’t make any commentary on the Clash.

This isn’t our newsroom dictionary, but “clamping down” with federal agents across DC seemed better than “cracking down” on greatly overstated “crime”

The Post’s latest map now shows a few incidents in SE, but here’s another with ~30 police, ATF and FBI just over on Minnesota Avenue SE last night. Made the one arrest here and then moved to the Mobil parking lot off I-295.

Wouldn’t assume this is confined to NE.

Important to note this is essentially a weekend truce. None of the biggest questions about Home Rule have been discussed yet, and AG Bondi is saying she expects Mayor Bowser to comply with requests for support in all of those areas.

A U.S. Park Police cruiser just sped into Malcom X/Meridian Hill and stopped on the lawn, prompting some people to clear out. Now questioning some people, but no arrests.

As the lawsuits against the administration pile up, I keep going back to this one.

Forcing courts to puzzle over actions that seem illegal or testing the limit is part of the stated strategy.
