Hi there, I'm Zay (or zirCLe)

I'm a game developer currently based in Meanjin/Brisbane
I've been known to make cool stuff occasionally

Head turn! This was mostly traced from reference footage of myself, and while some of the individual frames look quite jank (especially the nose and lips) I'm honestly pretty proud of it overall, especially since it didn't even take as long as any of the previous ones 6/8

Metamorphosis (+ some extra). This one really made the difference between straight ahead and pose-to-pose animation click for me, and even though it's not artistically super good, I'm actually quite proud of it. Lines could definitely have used work, and the design is kinda boring, but oh well 5/8

Pendulum swing. Honestly the first one I think doesn't really have any big flaws, although the actual pivot for the pendulum does move around a bit. It also could've really benefitted from some motion blur, but procrastination -> rushing work so I didn't have time to figure it out 4/8

Directional ball bounce! I stopped drawing for this and started using shape tools, so the volume is much more consistent, even through the squash and stretch. The timing is also better, however the arcs aren't great, and that 2nd peak really should've been higher. Still an improvement though 3/8

As promised, my progress in learning 2D animation for my university assignments

I am, first and foremost, a gameplay programmer, then a game designer. Art has never been my strong suit, and despite enjoying drawing I've never really put the time in to improve it. That changes with these 5 anims 1/8

Not a massively productive day, but our hoverboarding sheep now has some subtle leaning when moving around which makes it feel much nicer, as well as automatic backwards leaning when approaching a wall or start of a hill to prevent some collisions (plus awesome new assets from @aellann.bsky.social )

Perfect weather to stay inside and keep working on the game jam

Nothing like prototyping at the start of a game jam.

Hoverboarding Sheep

Still needs some stabilization work done so hills aren't so janky, but it's pretty fun so far
