Chalk-fragrant #orchids are coming into flower in #Bedfordshire now. The drought has kept them small and numbers low. It’ll be interesting to see how other species develop as the summer progresses @ukorchids.bsky.social

Our local Heath spotted orchids are just coming into flower in #Hertfordshire. Numbers seem low, and they are having to compete for light more than usual but it should be worth another look in about a week @ukorchids.bsky.social

The local early marsh orchids are doing quite well this year @ukorchids.bsky.social although it hasn’t been a good start for other species in Beds and Herts. I couldn’t find a single Man orchid at the traditional site this morning and my local green-winged orchids failed to flower. #Spring
