Myths

Facts
That number is padded with accounting tricks and one-time costs-designed to scare the public and blame workers. Pension cheques, benefits, and medicine are still delivered. Nobody is "held hostage."
Over the past four years, the cost of living has jumped about 16.5%, yet Canada Post's proposed 13% raise doesn't keep up-leaving workers and their families falling behind.
Letter mail is down, but parcels and admail volumes have exploded. Losses come from mismanagement, not workers' wages.
Canada Post funds itself and has handed over $1.5B to taxpayers. The recent $1B loan wasn't for workers most went to cover bond maturities and other non-
wage costs.

Workers are also fighting unsafe
workloads, short staffing, rising injuries, pension threats, and insecure temp jobs -while executives, including 15+ Vice- Presidents protect their pensions. CUPW already proposed weekend parcel delivery, postal banking, and green. energy hubs. Management blocked them
- then blamed workers for falling behind. The plan is to starve the service, declare it broken, then sell it off. Elsewhere, privatization meant higher prices, fewer services, and rural communities abandoned.
Management drags out talks waiting for back-to-work laws. Your neighbourhood postal worker is painted as "costly" or "unreasonable," while executive bonuses and mismanagement get a free pass.
