So the plan for tomorrow is prep for a dessert (Apple crisp) to take to my brother's house, who is hosting Thanksgiving. I'm sad about not cooking the dinner again, but it's the first year celebrating w/ my husband @collideintome.bsky.social, so it's a fair trade.

Before and after of what they did today. I'm glad the walls aren't stained red anymore. They still have work on the carpet to do and are going to replace that ceiling panel, along with scrubbing the vents clean. Should be all done by tomorrow.

Pipe cleanup update:
Maintenance has come by today to begin the painting and potentially cleaning of the carpet from last week's pipe disaster. The carpet may need to be pretreating before it's actually clean, but at least we won't have to replace it entirely. Pics of before and after later.

After a week of waiting, the plumbing company finally came by and made the replacement repairs needed. One less headache from all this.
Now I have to work with maintenance to repair the rust damage to the walls and carpet. It might be a long fall...

The pipe was for the water cooling system for the HVAC. Maintenance came by yesterday afternoon and finally shut the line off. They have to call a plumber to come and remove the old pipes and install new ones.
Still stressed, but a bit more calm today. Year's not over yet though.

Final result/autopsy:
After letting it cool, I checked the inside of the flan to see if it was overcooked or not. Lo and behold, it was. Scrambled egg on the inside. The flavor was there, but the texture was way off. I either didn't have enough water in the water bath or the oven was too hot.

Decided to try and make flan today for dessert. While the prep and caramel cooking was fairly easy, I'm not sure that it came out right. When I checked it, it didn't jiggle like it is supposed to. But it doesn't look overcooked. I don't quite know what's up with it.

My cat was acting weird last night. We thought it was because of the cookie I was eating. But I remembered that I had gotten some remnants of some air freshener in my hair and she was curious about the smell. She's still a weirdo.

Has anyone felt like something with enveloping you as you were sleeping, but the pressure from that felt so real that it woke you up? I did just a few minutes ago. I don't suffer from any sleep paralysis, but just be dreaming and then feeling that while you dream was enough to scare me awake.

Woke up a couple hours ago to a notice in my door, saying that the building's AC was down and will be worked on first thing in the morning. So without realizing it, I was sleeping in my apartment in this god-awful heat and will be like this until the AC gets fixed.
...at least I have power still..

Woke up a couple hours ago to a notice in my door, saying that the building's AC was down and will be worked on first thing in the morning. So without realizing it, I was sleeping in my apartment in this god-awful heat and will be like this until the AC gets fixed.

So apparently without me taking any doses of melatonin or sleep aids, I only get about 3-4 hours of sleep, even with the CPAP. That's awesome to know.

Need a late night snack with minimal ingredients? Take some leftover pepperoni from a pizza night and render it in a bit of olive oil to draw out some of the oils. Once crispy, remove it from the pan and sauté some onions and some diced yellow potatoes and a bit salt and pepper...
