This is funny, an ad for Velveeta that I just saw. Not only is the world depicted in the great Fellini film La Dolce Vita the antithesis of Velveeta, the brand is invoking a 62-year-old cultural reference. Curious how successful this will be — an interesting experiment.
An ad for Velveeta liquid cheese with a vaguely-contemporary street scene aspiring to look older (or "timeless") and a woman in the foreground styled vaguely to resemble a woman from 1961, the era of the Fellini film, though she looks more like she's mimicking the mid-late 1960s. Overlaid in yellow, all uppercase, is the adline, "That's La Dolce Velveeta." I scribbled the same yellow over the "shop now" button in the lower right.
