as someone who has 100%ed the game, I can say that you have had to use bomb jumps to get some bonus items, along with use of psychic lasso and boost ball to open things up so you can use the other items.

Could go multiple ways: a currency model... but also allow for bartering, since I imagine there are some things that are unique to certain base camps that aren't exactly accessible when you're bigger, so those with access to those base camps when they're smaller would be able to use them to barter.

Of course it could be a plot to eventually corrupt every Job Stone and perpetuate the cycle... though admittedly Blue Mage Job Stones are probably the easiest to corrupt given how most are 99% blank or don't have a lot of knowledge.
