A, B or C ?

( Committed EV drivers are allowed to be lifelong car freaks too. )

Alternative view.

Both taken in Auchterarder.

Here’s my fess up for honesty’s sake.
The original was a little less dramatic.
Crop and mono added for moody vibes. I’m no threat to serious photographers.

Done a bit over 1,000 miles in this now.

I really like it.

It seems most have an opinion on it, many of which are not at all impressed, and I don’t mind that at all.

I still turn around and look back after walking away, unlike some things I’ve had.

For sale locally.

I mean, I guess I could buy it, get a season out of it, sell it, and get my money back.

Right ?

View north(ish).

It could be much worse

Dakar was the colour of a friends racing version, back when BMW Compact racing used to be a thing.

Countless hours scraping off all the underseal and rustproofing.
This car had one ‘thin’ coat of paint, because with no power, the unfair advantage was essential.

I'll stop banging on about this now, as I picked it up today.

It's everything I'd hoped it would be.
December 23, 2024 at 5:59 PM
Just the setup to do now.
December 21, 2024 at 3:49 PM
Would you look at that.
It's nearly finished.

Unplanned drone / tree interface scenario.

Lessons were indeed learned.

Oil and wax finishes applied.

I can’t wait.

Danish oil on maple / mahogany.
Before and after.

Not a dramatic change, but the gentle strengthening of the colours I’d hoped for.

Hardware will be black, all temptation to choose gold having been resisted.

Danish oil finish on Shedua / Ovangkol top with a maple veneer pinstripe and walnut core.

It’s starting to look exactly how I’d imagined all along.

Found the pics from when I bought this six years ago.

Taken in the middle of a restringing exercise.

Some ebony, maple, redwood, think the last one much be walnut.

I love beautiful woods.

Bass project update.

The neck carved is finished and it’ll soon have final sanding followed by application of the oil and wax finish, followed by final assembly.

It’s been a lifetime’s ambition.

It’s a two storey house and I’m not that desperate to have it cleared, but I did have trust in the weather forecast when it said it would be 8°C this morning.
It’s all gone now.

Generation is still terrible, but the rain has done what I knew it would.

Also, electricity is free right now.

We do gritter naming better up here in Scotland.

Early winter conditions and we’re snowbound here.
Wind generation is doing great work in my part of the world.
November 23, 2024 at 11:34 AM
With the roof covered in snow and solar generation at zero, grid charging the batteries overnight at 7p / kWh is even more important.

This,
Because it was mine, and that’s me driving.

2005 😱

Solar noon in the frozen north of 56° North and it’s a fantastic 1°C.

Solar is generating an almighty 720W of power, but our A2A heating is consuming 389W to heat the bottom half of the house.

Solar works at this time of the year too.

Bonus border collie content.
