i must warn the world about possible future white crimes

installed this today on an old laptop, and MAN it's so cool! i've always wanted to toy around with an OS i could tweak to my liking

I like to think that most people want to have fun too, and that the bad apples who harass and hurt others are just a pretty loud minority! But it does get tiring to hear a lot of negativity, haha

It is depressing how many issues are simply caused by this need to stay on top of other countries, this need for reckless progress at the expense of the people its "supposed" to benefit, etc.
Feels like the world is driven by fear, not love

(Actually, they make me go "can I transport my consciousness into you and leave this cage of flesh behind" but. same thing.)

Part of the reason why I research ML nowadays is because I want to reclaim that philosophical aspect. I want to choke the hype created based on lies, I want to help educate people on it. But it does feel like a lost battle, how can you fight against Ultra-Giga-Big-Trillion-Dollar Corp?

Nowadays the whole concept of machine learning is tied to shitty practices, and a lack of responsibility by the people leading research. I was into AI because of its ties to philosophy, understanding what it means to "learn". It's all profit and benchmarks now.

As someone who graduated Computer Science and who studied philosophy, the LLM hype has always rubbed me the wrong way because I feel like it's a boom that cannot fulfill the promises it has set out to fulfill. So I wanted to make an article that summarized why, so I could link it if I get asked.
