When i was a kid i struggled real bad with the Soulcage in FF9. Years later im walking my friend through his first run of the game and he gets there. I tell him good luck, next boss is hard. He just says "Its a zombie right?"

What really pisses me off about it is its resulted in multiplayer and mtx content being forced into games that are normally single playe.
The line on this graph says Shooter Game 5 made money doing this, so Narrative Game 3 must do this too. Shoehorn some hamfisted multiplayer elements into it!
