I make videos and other stuff
If their story is legit, it should be easily provable

If the missing time is from a FAT32 issue where software restarts to keep files under 4GB, that should be easy to show it happens every day

Every element I can see a boring answer to, so why not release those boring technical answers?

The last part is it

*IF* Gov is honestly wanting to be transparent, why not have demo press conference to show how the screen recording was made?

Against policy? Distinction?

Or are they happy to keep this as a red herring?

It wouldn’t be hard to bring Wired and Fox News into a conference room and have the video editor walk through how they did a screen capture and stitched the clips in Premiere

And bam, the story is over

Are we being played? Is this misdirection that they want us to focus on this nothing-burger?

If I’m correct about it being a screen recording b/c the proprietary security software doesn’t have an “render / export” function, I wouldn’t call it a “sloppy coverup” but I am amazed at how they haven’t shut this story down by explaining how it’s stupid proprietary software that has no export

Can I call myself a forensic video expert?

Cause it seems like my initial assessment seems to be exactly what happened

The cursor over the video makes me all but certain

I don’t feel qualified to be an “expert” but it feels like I know more than anyone that is in these news reports

3/2

Ugh…

I just don’t get why the misleading statement of “1/2 people alive are dead by 35” was chosen over something like

“B/c of science, 98% of kids live to become adults today vs only 50% in 1840”

That sound bite I feel is so much strong & doesn’t have an averages misinformation problem
July 31, 2025 at 5:05 AM
2/2

The real story here is that science helped make it so vast majority of kids live to puberty

From caves to 1840, most humans that were born died before they were adults

If you make it past 12, you’re not “dead at 30” and you might easily see your 50s / 60s+

This clip annoys me so much

He is smart enough to know the problem w/ using averages

Using averages means it’s technically factual that 30 / 35 is the average age of when 1/2 of people alive at that time had died

But it isn’t factual at 0:49 when he says w/o science you’re dead at 30

1/2

I don’t think I’ve ever dealt with security camera footage where is wasn’t an absolute pain to get the footage “out”

Which makes me wonder how stuff gets used in court, or do they just not care?

If they are trying to be transparent then list camera model, list software, list etc etc etc
July 29, 2025 at 8:04 PM
And the AV tech made the player window a little off one clip to the next, thinking “close enough”

And all of this could’ve been avoided if FBI would’ve explained what they did to make the .mp4 of the “raw” video as well as releasing the proprietary footage at the same time what is hard to open
July 29, 2025 at 7:38 PM
My (cynical the truth is usually the most boring explanation) prediction is the security camera footage is from some proprietary software and codec that doesn’t really have an “export” setting, so the “raw” footage was a screen capture

And aspect ratio changed b/c it starts a new file every hour

Thank you! Knowing the term to search got me this video.

Admittedly, b/c my shape is serpentine, the fill had me worried as I traced back & forth, but drawing the shape and then applying it like in the video worked perfectly

Exactly what I was looking for

The solution I have now is to draw a mask with two dozen points and key frame the mask collapsing on itself, and while it works… it is

A. Tedious

and

B. Hard to get a linear speed throughout

And if the audio that is in a scratchy mono audio track, that could easily make it look like "wooden" acting, vs clean Dolby Stereo audio of that same performance and suddenly its a "great performance," when it was only the presentation that changed
June 17, 2025 at 3:58 PM
I think that is a big point, to get a good 4K77 you need to find multiple prints, as each print is going to be in a different level of good / bad / ugly condition
June 17, 2025 at 3:56 PM
Or is it that it is now next to impossible to make a new unaltered print of Star Wars?

I could imagine Lucas "taking apart" some of the original prints to scan / restore for Special Edition making it impossible to make a 100% 1977 version w/o use of computer based VFX
June 17, 2025 at 3:44 PM
I have to wonder if Star Wars looking "bad" is b/c of the condition of the 35mm print. I'd think that for Alien, Superman, Close Encounters and Star Trek the studios could be willing to make a new (?) print, but w/ Star Wars the only un-altered prints are ones that were stored in some closet

Make Manhattan largely car free and everyone will be able to get around Manhattan much faster

And the format is wide open for a number of scenarios that don’t need a big budget

The James Bond make believe tech is fun, but it is the cleverness of the con that make / break the movie

You can make these movies for “cheap” if done smart enough

Shame there isn’t more
