For example, I used to cut my old hollyhock seed heads / scatter the seed. I left some by accident and was rewarded by seeing goldfinch parents feeding their young on them - such a lovely sight.

This link has lots of good info - www.wildlifetrusts.org/gardening. As well as planting, a small pond will do wonders for attracting and helping many species to thrive. Keep any ivy, let the grass grow, be untidy - keep leaf litter, dead stalks and seed heads.

Thankfully we have a mobile hairdresser - less expensive too! I stick my head under the bath taps to wash / wet my hair and she cuts while I sit on a dining chair. Only takes her about 10 mins plus a quick burst with a hairdryer. No mirrors (except for a final check) no noise, no travel - bliss!
