Just because that's the way it is in D&D and most other games. Strength is a measurement of "lift this much" or "apply this much force." I have very rarely seen a game apply Strength relational to body size.

Like, I understand, when someone comes in and makes the worst bad faith argument you've ever heard, it's easy to thing "This must be intent, nobody's that stupid," but my time expressing progressive opinions on geek topics has taught me that there is no limit to how stupid people are.

I think you might be making the classic blunder of assuming malice instead of incompetence. It's a fantasy standard, lots of guys genuinely think they're being completely neutral because in their mind all their opinions are fact. And then their followers believe it, because they want to.

The thing is I used to actually get a lot of comments complaining that I wasn't just presenting the game under a pretext of objective neutrality, because I assume that was what they were used to. Also people who were really confused that I said both good and bad things about the same game.
