Marcus and I had a wonderful Christmas. He gave me a volume on the works of Immanuel Kant, and I gave him a mouse that I caught in the kitchen. I felt it ironic because my present was alive, and his was dead. Happy New Year everyone!

This is one of my heroes, Mrs. Chippy aboard Endeavour, who accompanied Sir Ernest Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914–1917. Mrs Chippy was actually a male cat but was named that as a joke as he was the constant companion of the ship's carpenter, Harry "Chippy" McNish .
