no one has corrected your correction? Since the parent gave the correct pronunciation of Schiphol both in an IPA transcription and by naming the consonant. the IPA letter /x/, the velar fricative, is what you are calling a "hard" <ch>. I guess the "echoes of hebrew" remark made it confusing?

This but without the apology. I say “gif/gif” (hard g first). First as a joke which I think I got from strongbad. But now I can’t remember what my preferred pronunciation is and it’s gif/gif every time.
