I don't live in Maine right now. But I am from Maine and my disappointment is palpable. I just want a pro-trans, pro-LGBTQIA+ candidate without hateful baggage who just wants to help the most in need. Why is it so hard?

I was excited for his pro-trans, pro-LGBTQIA+ statements and messaging. My disappointment in him is immeasurable.

I've considered running for local office a bunch of times. But I just don't like how the mustache looks on me. /s

I'm iffy on it, too. But I also acknowledge that the word was just self-used for the community for decades and lots of older LGBTQIA+ people still use it.

As a former service member. What a joke. Protect your civilians from an occupying force ffs.

"Transgenders". Tell me you don't see trans people as equal humans without saying it. Get out of here with your nounified adjectives. Same language the GOP uses FFS.

This is true. This has been the policy since the order stopping ongoing care was signed. It's at the bottom.

Been fundraising for my own GAC recently, and I've definitely been side eyeing all the straight-cis allies in my life who donate to democrats but won't put their money where their mouth is for their own community advocates.

I've been building silly decks in a card game and teaching my spouse and friends (who were always intimidated by the percentage of men in the spaces) how to play in a co-op environment. They've been having a lot of fun!

To be fair... at least one, if not both, are 'high'.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm a mascot. Easily recognized. Friendly face. I'm around to help put people at ease. And that's my number one job. Lol.

It was because it was the metro Paris area, lol. We see the same thing in any big city, really.

No, not really. Most American classrooms don't teach language through natural acquisition. This was a constant fight I had with my supervisors when I was teaching at university. They preferred to use more antiquated, prescriptive instruction.

It is. It's paced at a similar speed to classroom instruction. It ramps up as you go and focuses on natural acquisition versus direct instruction. It will feel slow at first, and it will ramp up with more words and more structures, scaffolding on what you know. Modeled after how kids learn.

As a former linguist specializing in teaching language. Duolingo teaches in a way that a lot of people are programmed to learn, using more modern methods circa 2015 or so.

It is, however, missing immersion and real speaking opportunities. So it's primarily geared to teaching reading and listening.
