I agree it seems that way from the outside...just wondering if Mike-Shawn feels the same way

Clearly this is the best Seahawks team since 2014 or 2015, and they seem well positioned for the next few years. Do you think they can avoid the internal issues that broke up the LOB-era teams?

The offense has been very good this half

Some, but also they were very dependent on big plays earlier in the year - gonna be a lot of variance there

This is still the worst tape I've ever seen from a 1st rounder tbh, just zero situational awareness:

I get what you're going for here, but I think colloquially it makes more sense to refer to drinks that have some clear shared lineage and traits as cousins (as opposed to siblings), even if they have the same "parent" drink. Siblings would be a rye Manhattan & a bourbon Manhattan, for example

I would say that all of The Last Word riffs (Naked and Famous, Final Ward, Paper Plane, etc) would make sense to refer to as cousins - without delving too much into what exactly we mean by it, I think they're all from the same generation more or less and obviously share some common ancestry

Gotta love that alumni network!

Yes, novelty drives some consumer behavior for sure, but I think that chasing novelty has turned out to be fool's gold, or at least an unwinnable race, for a lot of brands, bars, and breweries.
November 7, 2025 at 6:49 PM
I think too often beverage pros champion products that the average drinker, or even a fairly experienced one, just can not connect to, because they haven't had a chance to get bored with well-made and pleasurable drinks.

Yet it's also the case that the best selling products or most profitable bars are not necessarily the best ones - yet it's also not the case that the best brands or bars are the most innovative ones, either. In both fields, execution matters, as does understanding the objectives.

Where it can quickly get out of hand is when we confuse "interesting" for "good." In football, there are more objective measures of success, which does keep a bit of a check on that tendency, I would assume. In the drinks biz, sales are obviously one means by which we can assess success.

They were talking about the NFL, but it made me think about the drinks industry and how both people within it and the media who cover it can have a very hard time keeping those two straight. When you are living in this world, novelty helps keep the job fun and exciting - that's totally fine!

I think there was a lot of infatuation with the perceived savviness of Minnesota's approach. Turns out that "getting on the rookie QB timeline" only works if the QB is playable.

Feels like this would not work out to their benefit even a little bit
