My son says there are 3 kinds of Jews: those that put applesauce on latkes, those that put sour cream on latkes, and those that are wrong. I heartily disagree. Turns out, homemade cranberry sauce goes great on latkes. Happy 3rd night of Chanukah, my friends!

Sometimes a rainy Fall day in Indiana simply needs homemade zucchini scones. The rest is commentary. Go and eat.

I showed up to the No Kings rally in Indianapolis without signs or costumes, but I did bring my voice, my witness, and my presence. Sometimes that's all you need.

Trump is even politicizing USDA data in the most crass and stupid way possible. This is scary stuff.

G'mar chatimah tovah! May you all be inscribed for a good year!

Nothing political here. Just a vegan snack of homemade gluten free everything bagel, Kite Hill cream cheese, and homemade carrot lox. It's a thing.

If I asked AI to create the quintessential culinary Zev experience, I don't think it could do better than vegan tacos with cilantro lime brown rice and hard kombucha at a restaurant called Sage Karma Kitchen in Willoughby, Ohio.

Homemade proof that kombucha can be fermented with yerba mate instead of tea. I flavored mine with plum juice. The booch definitely has a distinct, almost peat-like flavor. I could get used to this.

My birthday gift from my son. M&H Distillery is an Israeli distillery that makes an awesome (and major award-winning) single malt whisky. Find it and enjoy it!

Sometimes we just have to protect and cultivate our own tiny corner of the universe. I'm protecting mine with vegan gluten free carob banana pancakes. Plus lots of syrup.

Sometimes when the world is crazy, your family's health is questionable, and the tasks are overwhelming, you just need to stop and make scones. Dad wisdom.

The Peoria Public Downtown Library has this sign on its shelves. I don't know if it's a widespread library practice, but it's brilliant. No more having to ask a person at the reference desk for books on {whisper} acne.

While strolling through the grocery, I saw this unfortunate juxtaposition. Makes sense to me. Waffles a la mode for dinner anyone?

Right before Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Memorial Day), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission texted all Barnard faculty a survey to help identify all the Jews. We are light years beyond irony. If the EEOC really wants to identify the Jews, they need a survey like the one below.

Just came back from the Indianapolis 50501 rally. Showing up and bringing cans for the food drive was the least I could do. And I always do the least I can do. Even if these rallies don't have an impact, it's important for all of us to see we're not alone.

We had an early family Purim celebration with Beyond burgers, homemade GF hamburger buns, french fries, onion rings, fruit, and fixings. Also hamantaschen and almond cake. Also booze. Also Megillah reading. Also silliness and fun.

Prepping for Purim. Batch #1 complete. Mixed berry, guava, and apricot. More to come.
