By popular demand, we have added in Zettlr 4.0 the ability to instantaneously toggle between a raw Markdown source-code editing experience, and a WYSIWYG writing experience. This toggle will be available in the statusbar.

For Zettlr 4.0, we decided to give the Zettelkasten workflow a little glow-up. We have streamlined the settings, and fully embrace the ability to set link labels for any internal link.

For Zettlr 4.0, we have put some extra effort in rewriting the citation parser. Now, your citations will be properly highlighted and detected. This improves performance, user experience, and implements more citation features.

Oh, and the citation renderer now properly detects crossrefs!

One of the most-anticipated new features of the next release of Zettlr is a fully-rewritten table editor. No more data loss, easier insertion, and much more support for syntax highlighting, citations, math, and more!

Another new exciting feature of Zettlr 4.0 is a brand-new image and PDF viewer. Now you can cross-reference plots and research literature right within the app.

Another place that has received a glow-up for the upcoming Zettlr 4.0 is the statistics window. We've improved the calendar view with a proper heatmap, and the chart view with a proper, readable bar chart that is easier to parse.

The first new feature of Zettlr 4.0 is a brand-new onboarding experience for new users, which allows changing some basic settings for first-time use. It also introduces new users to some of the core features of the app.

The first new improvement you will see is a brand-new onboarding screen for any update with a direct link to the changelog.

The holiday season is upon us. As we collectively think about what do get for our families, why not also give a bit to the apps we use every day?

A monthly donation to Zettlr is sustainable: you will never lose access to it, even if you cancel! Your app – your data.

The benefits of domain knowledge: I'm currently in a paper submission phase and the journal has a word limit of 10k. But Zettlr didn't allow viewing the total word count across an entire project.

Now it does.

(Coming with the next update, hopefully before Christmas — we have a TON in store!)

It's not the content I normally post, but after this weekend I finally managed to finish up a very large project.

The last thing that I needed to do was read an image from the clipboard, and I cannot NOT share with you the insane amount of work that takes.

We have something truly amazing to share: After almost 6 years of constant improvement and dedication, Zettlr has passed the mark of 1,000,000 downloads!

This is truly amazing!
