Working on tablet weaving some trim this morning for my Zelda cosplay!

A heddle loom threaded up with 36 tablet cards in blue and beige thread, being used to weave a modified version of the halstatt pattern to include the Zelda triforce. The original pattern was made by tabletweaving on Instagram, this version I edited to be symmetrical so I can use it for seam binding. Also in the photo there's a shuttle made of purpleheart wood with the weft thread wrapped around it, and the pattern printed out onto a piece of paper with coloured dots to match the painted edges of the cards and label where in the pattern I am. I also have a knife edge shuttle to push the thread down, which could just be the regular shuttle I use but I like to use two

Making a ballgown in a week for my VtM LARP was a success!

Upping my cosplay trinket game by weaving some silly skrunkly little guys

A picture of a batman pattern threaded up on my tablet weaving loom. I use a rigid heddle loom that's small enough to almost fit in my lap, and a shuttle made of purple heart wood. I paint the edges of my cards to help me track where I am in the pattern as well. A section of the batman pattern. I'm making keychains so I decided 5 Batmen was probably a good length of them. A finished keychain of a skrunkly little Superman. I tied a knot at the end as a place for a keyring to go through. There's probably better ways to do this but uhhhh this is what I came up with at the time haha. I put fraycheck on the end so it doesn't fray

Experimenting with different thread types for tablet weaving. Learned that bad cheap embroidery floss is Not Ideal but mystery thread in the bottom of my stash works pretty well. More trial and error to come

Learning to sew has given me the ability to choose how big I want my pockets to be, and I have immediately chosen to abuse that power. I should not be trusted with fabric. Mwa ha ha

This fabric is so pretty but it's sadly much too cyan for the icy blue of the corset, so I'm dying it a colder shade of blue, and it is the most hydrophobic fabric I've ever encountered. I've been stirring it for like 5 minutes and there are still dry spots that aren't saturated

The corset fitting process so far! I think I'll finish the edges with some white twill tape and then maybe do some flossing on the boning channels in white thread?

A mirror selfie of me standing in Mockup #1. This first mockup is just what I draped on the dressform, so I'm seeing what needs to be done first before stitching down the seam allowance into boning channels Mockup #2, this time I stitched the seam allowance down and added boning. I also lowered the neckline and took a lot of room out of the bust so there's a wider gap at the top. This corset's designed to fit unevenly Onto the actual corset, fitting 1. The corset's made of a cheap polyester brocade I found in the scrap bin of Textile Discount Outlet. I lowered the waistline of the corset. The straps are there but I didn't pin them for this fitting. The center front pannel I also cut on the bias to accommodate the angle the corset laces on The final fitting, I took more room out of the top of the side front pannels and stitched down the seam allowance for the boning channels. After this fitting I also added a few more to some of the larger panels.
