The fic that was written in reaction to the post is the most transformative fandom reaction I've ever seen. It's amazing and hysterical and worth a read even now.

And the OTW was doing them a favor to keep good relations with the WSFS. Remember, that year the fundraising merch was "we won a Hugo YAY!" They didn't HAVE to do it. Then, Standlee came in and proved just how he didn't understand internet fandom... at all.
