Talking about things I like here
pfp by @popopopopoopw on X
Haven't been posting a lot on here and I need to catch up on some things...

Xenoblade Chronicles X is one of my favorite games and I'm very giddy about being able to play it again. Beautiful game.

This is the end of the Dream Theater spam on my media thread. I really did all this because I went to see them live, and I had a blast. Seeing Octavarium live was one of the best live experienced I've had. They're a great band and some of their albums are must-listens for prog fans..

16. Parasomnia - Dream Theater (2025)

Another average listen. With Mike Portnoy back it hasn't really changed much. Midnight Messiah is a good song though and it was good live. This one is still pretty fresh, might go back to it, but I hope they change their formula a little in the future.

15. A View from the Top of the World - Dream Theater (2021)

I didn't like nor hate this one. It's just fine. I like the song The Alien but other than that I wouldn't go back much. At this point I really wish they changed their sound a little bit because all their recent music is same-y.

14. Distance Over Time - Dream Theater (2019)

I thought this is solid and I think this could grow on me over time. Even though their sound hasn't changed much, the songs here aren't bad. It's worth listening to of their recent albums.

13. Dream Theater - Dream Theater (2013)

This was a one and done for me. Sounds repetitive and boring a lot of the time. Don't really like the production and mixing of the sound they were going for... just starts to be bland. Wouldn't recommend this.

12. A Dramatic Turn Of Events - Dream Theater (2011)

Mike Portnoy left the band, this isn't a memorable album in the discography. It's really not bad, but it's nothing that is worth listening to unless you are already a DT fan. I think it is a better album of the post 2010 records.

11. Black Clouds & Silver Linings - Dream Theater (2009)

One I had already listened to prior, this album doesn't seem to get crazy recognition. I can see why Count of Tuscany isn't well liked (I like it a lot) but The Best Of Times is a wonderful song. Good album.

10. Systematic Chaos - Dream Theater (2007)

Didn't really leave a crazy impression on me... Thought Constant Motion was good. Production felt a lot like Octavarium to me except a little less memorable... could change since I need to give this more chances at some point.

9. Octavarium - Dream Theater (2005)

An amazing album, I think in terms of production it is one of the easiest to listen to and swallow other than the title song Octavarium (24 minutes one of the best songs in their discography)

Can't get enough of Panic Attack but not a single bad song.

8. Train of Thought - Dream Theater (2003)

An amazing album, probably their hardest and most technical. Stream of Consciousness is definitely one of the best songs in their discography. Not many gripes with this one.

Hollow Knight (2017) [Switch]

Yeah, I replayed Hollow Knight, once again. I have nearly 100 hours in HK on Steam alone. To me this is a golden standard of a Metroidvania, there's not really many criticisms that I have about it.

Nothing to be said that I haven't said already if you've talked to me

Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (2002)

Not a lot to say. This album felt too long for what it was, but it wasn't really anything that caught my eye. The noodling definitely kicks in on this one. I'll probably have to listen to this again sometime.

Crux - Moon Tooth (2019)

Listened to this at random, not what I expected, but impressive. Have listened to this once, but I know for a fact I will listen to it more. Very heavy, melodic, somewhat progressive styles of music.. this rules.

Would recommend.

Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory - Dream Theater (1999)

A very impressive work for an album as a whole. Probably one of the best 'rock opera' concept albums I've ever heard. Will stand as one of my favorites of DT. It's consistent in quality, variety, and melody.

3. Falling into Infinity - Dream Theater (1997)

Went into this album knowing what to expect and lore behind it. A very inconsistent album with surprisingly really good highs and abysmal lows. You Not Me is really bad and Lines in the Sand is really good.

A Change of Seasons - Dream Theater (1995)

Easily the best and most progressive song they've made up until this point. A contender for best 20+ minute song on their catalogue, seriously an amazing song. I will 100% be coming back to the song "A Change of Seasons".

1. Five Star Stories (1989)

A friend is trying to get me to watch Heavy Metal L-Gaim, which I probably will, but we sat and watched through this. This is pretty solid, for what it's worth. This is an adaptation of the first 4 (?) chapters of the manga.
