Ohhh, I thought Gamla Stan was a musical piece by Jacob Gurevitsch. Well, it is, but it is also apparently a place!

As somebody from the Baltics, I do not find the "I doubt they could get past Poland" comforting at all.

Why would dictatorships be any better for the working class anyway?
October 27, 2025 at 10:45 PM
If there is no more Ukraine, then there is no Ukrainian working class either.
October 27, 2025 at 10:43 PM
I struggle to understand how dictatorships benefit the working class in any shape or form.
October 27, 2025 at 10:06 PM
Besides, does Putin care about the working class? Would Russia be better?
October 27, 2025 at 9:28 PM
If Ukraine falls, then there will not be any "Ukrainian working class."
October 27, 2025 at 9:28 PM
This has been my impression as well: either you have the camp that has abandoned social-democratic principles in favor of more right-wing policy or you have a faction of tankies/campists. This is a problem in not just the UK, but in the wider world, with very few nascent exceptions.

I am curious, where would you place "Central and Eastern Europe" within this dichotomy?
October 27, 2025 at 1:41 PM
I think what shields us in Europe from not understanding Climate Change is that, unlike the US, we do not have a lot of native fossil fuels, but we also want to be geopolitically independent. Investing into green tech alleviates these problems.

Which is not surprising considering the scale of the problem.
October 26, 2025 at 10:35 PM
I think that this also showcases that we have not yet solved the coordination problem. Political technology still has place to develop.

They said that don't know anything of what I am talking about, that I am too critical of the US, and that the EU sucks anyway. They were not even Trump supporters.

I have lost some American friends when I told them that I am afraid for their safety and that they better move somewhere else like Europe.

The grammar and punctuation of his post is so horrible and below the bar that it punctured the floor and reached a r*zzian basement flooded with shit.

I cannot even comprehend how you can take a guy seriously who writes like he never finished primary school.

Your posts always fill me with hope. Thank you.

Correction for the sake of accuracy: I double-checked that there are nearly 200k Lithuanians in the UK (Latvians make up the other 100k), but the general point still stands.
October 25, 2025 at 11:38 AM
Having family in the UK, my impression is that people are not happy with the 300k Lithuanians there.

Oliver Moody - who recently wrote a book about the Baltic region - mentioned in a conference how the British, generally speaking, are particularly prejudiced against Lithuanians.

Perhaps you could simply keep them as "figurky", the same way that Russian slang got used in the movie A Clockwork Orange.

Sir, a second nazi tattoo has hit the dermis.

While reading Minna Alander's feed I think I saw someone mention that the Swedes have been working for the past few years specifically to replace the American parts so that they could send the Gripens to Ukraine.

What is happening ??! :Ooooo

As an aside, I think that this shows that Kremlin's nuclear threats are shallow - if they actually have the intention to nuke us, then why do they keep their own closest family members in our cities?

To me the online left went mask-off when they went against the Venezuelan democratic opposition.

This merely confirms what we should know by now. These people do not believe in left-wing ideology; they merely use it as a vehicle to pursue their actual agenda- the destruction of liberal democracy.
