I misread that as "talking about my ass all the time" and I was like "Steph! I didn't think you were one of THOSE influencers."

This isn't the answer, but I wonder if this was repurposed art because wow that dude does NOT look like a flyer.

Wait a minute. Is that you in the pic? Are you a Spartan?

I am such a sucker for a good redemption arc.

That's awesome. Love it when I find "the angle" that makes a deck earn its right to exist and it's not just a collection of edhrec cards.

The system is really not designed for the best candidates to get selected. I don't know you super well, but I like to think I am a good good judge of character. That's preamble to say - You are amazing. I am sure you will find a role worthy of your talent.

Canceled my bundle today too.

Would also love to hear your critiques.

It was a staple game of ours when I had a regular boardgame group. What I always liked about it is: when the game was done, I was able to review my choices and see where I went wrong or why I pulled ahead, etc. It didn't feel arbitrary like a lot of games. I really felt the weight of my decisions.

Great Western Trail is one of the best! Were you guys already familiar or was this your first game? How did it go?

But with this one I can make the argument that each set of 4 legs counts as a dog. So that's multiple triggers in Sophia. 😀

Hush your mouth! I need more dogs for my dog deck!

I feel like I am missing something. How are you loop casting Diamond when it's in your graveyard?

Wil's character is very similar to the main character Fin from the YA fantasy series The Map to Everywhere.

I don't understand. What is creating the targetting if not the resolution of each trigger to draw a card? The way I am interpreting, you would draw each card which would each cause another bowmaster trigger, but you could draw into instant speed removal to kill bowmaster and stop the loop right?

Yeah, for sure. I just find that game an interesting example that made me re-examine board wipes. Nobody was "wrong" to play them, but in hindsight, it took away the chance for us to play more games that night...and Brad still won! 😀

IIRC I revealed I had drawn another board wipe, and polled the table if I should even cast it. We all agreed I shouldn't because it was over 3 hours. That game made me switch more to one-sided wipes. I agree we shouldn't guilt trip, but I can't say board wipes haven't detracted from the fun.

It's ironic for me to see you post this. I don't disagree with you, but the one game I had the pleasure to play with you and Brad was a game that I think we all agreed was a slog, and it was a game where 3 different players had played board wipes (we were trying to stop Brad..) cont..

Well, then why even play cards with scry if you are never going to bottom them? Where's the value!?
March 3, 2025 at 11:32 PM
In my experience with it, players are putting too much weight on the game changers vs everything else that makes the deck good. My guess is that's because counting game changers is the most codified piece of the system. Players are drawn to rigid rules, but it's more art than science.

Thank you! This is how I use tutors and I never see people talk about it. Gavin made it sound like demonic tutor will only be used to grab combo pieces rather than quirky engine pieces.

Is this a Harlan Elllison reference, prof?
