In the novel, Une is desperate to thwart Mariemaia and wants to activate the Scorpio dolls on Vulcanus, but Zecha says he'll kill her on the spot if she even tries to.

I still chuckle at how it follows the Endless Waltz novelization continuity over the OVA/Movie, so I guess that says something for the "anime purists" out there. Then again, Wing has never been one for continuity anyway :P

I feel like the lower profile shows can bundle things together easier (it's certainly happened before). It's when you have bigger, higher profiles ones where more needless layers get introduced to the process.

Sitting on a production committee doesn't afford you any more sway. Japan is notorious for dragging out rights negotiations for things at a glacial pace and making it ridiculously cumbersome. If you don't have all 503 signatories on board you don't move forward.

Plus, the idiotic amount of red tape behind the scenes is something people also forget about, so it doesn't matter how big or "powerful" a company may appear; they are still subject to the whims of others. 😅

Often times lyrics won't be provided until the single drops weeks or months later, and that's not something that gets to be an "early perk" just because a song was licensed for translating, so rather than transcribing by ear and risk being wrong, people sometimes get nothing at all.

From what I recall, when you start to transcribe/translate song lyrics, that isn't something covered by ASCAP. Rights for translating a song have to come from the original music publisher. Sometimes it happens in tandem with a stream (the anime licensor helps), other times it doesn't.
