Blind guy reading lots of audiobooks 🎵 Come for the witty & cynical book reviews 🃏 stay for the megalomania.
The book is a wonderful piece of literature written by the incredible pirateaba

I have one problem with it and that is the 'Trigger Warning', which pissed me off. Why was that there?

On an aside, Flos is DonaldTrump in my opinion regarding his domination of Reim.

After listening to @mouthymaven.bsky.social and Erin Bennett discuss the narrator change, I have come to understand the book for what it is: a challenge that @mouthymaven.bsky.social could not unfortunately overcome, which saddens me.

However, Erin Bennett has taken up the task to her credit.

The series has a new narrator in Erin Bennett

Obviously, a new voice actor brings many hurdles to overcome for the listener used to the 15 books narrated by
@mouthymaven.bsky.social

However, I recently returned to the series, appreciating something new in it.

My favourite part of this whole audiobook is when
John Cleese is reminiscing on the episode of the Germans when a German guy said to him across the restaurant, "Hey Basil, don't mention the war..."

It just goes to show how much of a long lasting impact this show has had...

I very much liked the fact that Manuel commentates over what is happening in every episode.

The best example of this I believe is when Manuel is out of sight of the Major and is saying some of his favourite English phrases such as "I learn to speak English from a book": genius.

John Cleese has an unprecedented ability to find the absurdity in the mundane and that makes him a great writer.

I enjoyed his descriptions of how he approached the writing process of each episode of Fawlty Towers: it gives an insight into how such an iconic show was created.

Alongside the niceties of @DJSchinhofen's writing my biggest love in this book is @mouthymaven.bsky.social's narration, including the ♥️wonderful bloopers reel.

It adds unintentional hilarity... something which I adore from @DJSchinhofen's other series #AethersRevival.

A beautiful mind.

The writing was deliciously bloody🩸 and also put the socialist economy under the 🔍 magnifying glass.

It put the monetary situations of the characters right into the foreground of this book.

This created a unique perspective rarely found in #litRPG.

The plot is excellent as is the storytelling.

As an audiobook reviewer, the narrator
@DanTheVoiceMan3 was brilliant.

His vocal tracking was consistent and his character work was solid.

🎶 This series is definitely worth a listen.

I love how the MC believes that a high enough constitution stat can make him invulnerable.

However, this notion is abruptly beaten the 💩 shit out of him by a 😼 cat person.

Some lessons have to be learned the hard way, as is the case for our MC Arlo. 🥷

Now don't get me wrong, I ❤️ love this series.

I find it thought-provoking, interesting and the story arc is incredible.

The added complexity means I rate it ⭐️ half-a-star higher than the first Mage Academy.

Just ditch the character info. sheets in every chapter!!! 😠💢

Reading the whole thing took about 24-30 seconds of my life per chapter for a fucking irritating status update.

I loved the story but fuck me, I hate the continuous harassment that every chapter brought.

As ever, the story was wonderfully complex thus leaving the listener feeling satisfied after the read through.

It complimented the need for the many different and extremely talented voice artists... it is just another example of Soundbooth Theater's VO prowess.
