The prison thing might actually be another kind of distancing, though. Someone goes to prison if they're an actual inmate, but someone else would go to *the* prison to visit them.

Pretty specific take: "the menopause" is more recent, distancing thing, but relates to "I got the flu" or "the covid". Going to the hospital might be a a little distancing, but it's also a place, and that's where it would feel weird because you don't say "I went to store" or "I'm going to dog park".

Thing: walking through artist's alley, Chicago Comicon, 2008-ish. Passed Greg Land's booth and said something along the line of "I'm really tired of this style" just loud enough to get an angry look. Never take it back, though.

A) It looks like a 150/1500 with a lift kit (I hate lift kits). B) 2500/3500s are worse. C) 4500s are even worse. D) Sorry for the rant, but I work roadside dispatch and have a burning hatred for vehicles large enough to block out the sun.
