After 20+ years of living on various hard drives and cloud servers, I finally deleted the goofy (and honestly, kinda problematic) music I made as a goof in college and post-college. Partially because of those problematic elements, and partially because I was tired of it coming up on shuffle.

This is exactly how librarians have been blamed for cuts to library budgets for decades. "You didn't do enough to communicate your value." What that really means is "you don't make any profit, and profit is the only legitimate value an organization can produce."
You hear this a lot on the left but it isn't true. USAID did not "fail to tell its story to Americans," the right targeted the agency with lies and misinformation.

Ultimately this narrative turns conservative attacks into even more calls for the left to reform.

As someone who generally hates political meme images on social media...I still feel obligated to share this today. Feel free to call me a hypocrite.

I’ve been a comics fan for a long time, but for a long time, “comics” meant graphic novels and trade paperback collections of comic book issues. I’ve recently gotten back into collecting them again, and one of the first things I did was buy the first comics I could remember reading as a kid. (con)

As an aside, I had totally forgotten that Peter David had written a series of Star Trek novels set outside of the usual tv series/movie characters. I don’t remember how many of them I read (not all of them, certainly), but this just reminded me that these books were probably the first time I (con)

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of comic book and sci-fi writer Peter David, who passed away last night following a long illness. Incredible Hulk, X-Factor, Star Trek...so many fond memories of him and his work.

Digital spring cleaning got me in my feels…so many albums I loaded into iTunes years ages ago and then promptly never listened to all the way through.

If you love heavy music even a little bit, you owe it yourself to see Deafheaven live. They absolutely blow it out of the water live. I’m only angry that covid got in the way of me seeing them in 2020.

I had not one, but two e-retailers send April Fool’s messages along the lines of “We’re going out of business! April Fool’s!” and I feel like that’s just tempting fate by them.

Trying to figure out if I’ve crossed that line of “too old to appreciate loud concerts anymore”, but I stubbornly refuse to believe that a concert where you can actually feel the bass/bass drum in the air around your body is normal and good sound mixing.

I’m glad I have a job where I’m able to go to Emerald City Comic Con and learn about all the new and popular graphic novels, genre fiction and tabletop games, but just being steeped in that con environment makes me want to find a way to be more fearless in pursuit of the things I’m passionate about.

I love cats as much as the next cat dad, but Bluesky cat accounts where posts are written in cutesy accents are an immediate no-go for me.
