I got lazy and forgot to schedule tweets and my last one hit today. My consistency will disappear tomorrow 😭

I feel your pain!!

Definitely 🤣 it’s lost “history” at this point so that might as well be the origin instead.

Yeah I don’t think the person who coined it would have ever guessed how big of a backlash it would get. Especially since it’s become so murky that people think white people in California or something are the ones it made it up. 🤣

A and O *

Because it was making x a symbol, a variable so to speak. But unlike latin@ which combines the an and o, it takes it out. But both look absolutely silly, but I recognize and support the message of both.

Yeah for sure! Afaik it was done as a “protest” move to remove a/o to speak out against gendered language but again why not just keep it as Latine? I read into it like 10 or so years ago and it came from someone in LatAm. I guess it was supposed to be similar to like latin@ but also opposite?? >

I ran this “poll” on both Twitter and Bsky to try to see the difference in responses. I intentionally left out Latine. But fun fact, Latinx is actually meant to be pronounced the same as Latine, just when the term hit the states, we ruined it. 😭
