So in a way I'm pleased that I've made something with such a close relationship between the mechanics and theme.

But on the other hand, I like this system enough to want to explore its use in other games, and I'm not crazy about how much I'm going to have to break it to do so.

For something that doesn't fit the scale to have a mechanical representation means throwing the maths off so much that it no longer fits within the system.

If the players find a dragon, how is this huge target easier to hit than a human-sized target, when even rolling a 1 counts as a hit?

That scale is replicated through the dice mechanics. There's a very narrow band of possible results every time you roll, and any outcome (other than zero) is an indicator of progress. The question is whether or not your progress outpaces the things that seek to do you harm.

See, ICDTIMS is fundamentally a game about interactions between humans. That might be violence, direct or inherent, or negotiations or violations of trust. It might involve forces much larger than an individual, but moment-to-moment everything takes place on a human scale.

Also for things like "newest in print" and "hottest titles". Whenever there's a series of tiny supplements they completely dominate the carousels to the exclusion of any other publisher.

This was... let's just say more than six years ago. Got bored waiting for a lecture, it stayed on that whiteboard for months.

The trick is to take on an additional side project for when you're not in the mood for any of the other six.

Maybe I'm being pedantic, but is it possible to achieve 100% game completion 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 finishing the game?
