If you've never read it, it's about an automaton built to play music that gets pinnochio'd & ends up reading The Velveteen Rabbit. I personally think it's some of my best work in comics. I would...appreciate your time...
A comic page of my two characters, Jack and Maestro. Maestro is kneeling down talking to Jack. Maestro says, "If I didn't know better, I'd think you were here to read!" They then pause in thought for a moment. "...Are you curious about this place? Is that it?" Jack cocks his head in confusion. A book floats down magically off a shelf into Maestro's hand as they continue, "Jack, this is a library, you see! Each book here has a story; each story is a glimpse into another world." Another comic page, this time Jack is with another character, Jay. Jay is reading aloud from a book, "Real isn't how you are made, said the Skin Horse." Jack butts in out of shocked excitement, "How are you doing that??" Jay continues, "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Re-" Jack cuts him off again, "How are you doing that???" Jay passes him the book quietly. "It's just a book. Think of it like sheet music. You already know A through G from musical scales. With words like "forte," "elegy," and so on, you should know most letters of the alphabet. Just extrapolate with the rest of them." Jack looks down at the book in wide-eyed excitement. Another comic page, this time with Jay and two little girls, Lena and Ellie. Lena says, "Jay promised to teach ME to play backgammon!" Ellie replies, "But...didn't he just teach you checkers AND solitaire? I want a turn now..." Lena smiles smugly. "Doesn't matter; I asked him first!" Then adds as an aside, "And backgammon is way better than a dumb encyclopedia anyway!" Ellie pouts, "You say that every time! It's not FAIR!" She turns to Jay, "Jay, can we please read first?" Lena cuts in, "No, play backgammon!" Both of them start to frantically beg; he is visibly overwhelmed at having to choose between them. Comic panels of Lena and Ellie screaming, "Rabbit story! Right here! Right now!" into Jack's ears, as he just sits there frozen in shock.

A continuation of the comic. Reed has taken the popped ball to an adult, Baset, to fix. Neither of them are particularly fond of each other. "You better bring jerky next time you visit..." Baset grumbles angrily as he sews the hole shut. Reed replies sweatily, "Yes sir! Thank you, sir!" Baset adds, "AND steak!" Reed counters, "I'm a ten-year-old with no income, sir!" Baset just makes indistinct angry noises in reply. Reed shouts, "I'll find a way, sir!!" The scene returns to Aster, who is moping on the ground with snotty tears. "Aster!" Reed says to get his attention, then presents the fixed ball to him, while internally imagining Aster's grateful and excited reaction. The imaginary text reads: "Wow, Reed! I am so grateful! You really occupy a meaningful existence in my life! I'm so glad we are friends! I don't find your presence a bother at all!" Aster stares at the repaired ball in silence for a moment, before a lightbulb goes off in his head. Aster runs over to Baset and hugs his leg, crying grateful tears. "Baset, thank you!!!" Reed just stands in annoyed silence in the background. Baset smirks smugly. Reed internally thinks, "Ohhh you bastard I'm gonna buy the shittiest turkey jerky I can find and then I'm gonna spit on it and-" (Then the thought bubble gets cut off).

First panel of a comic with two kids, my characters Reed and Aster. Noteworthy that Aster has cow horns, ears, and a tail. Reed is holding a ball, while Aster frantically waves saying: "Reed! Pass it to me! I'm open!! I'll catch it this time, I swear!!!" With a slightly annoyed smirk Reed thinks, "Who else would I even pass it to." "Right...here goes..." Reed says, while casually tossing the ball into the air. It arcs downwards and lands on one of Aster's horns with a loud "WHUNK," popping the ball instantly. Aster clutches the ball sadly, turned away from the camera. Reed says nervously, "You...you know I didn't do that on purpose, right??" With a caption that reads: "Sick of getting in trouble." Aster merely says, "Mom just gave me this...and I already wrecked it..." With another caption that reads: "A 5-year-old already developing a complex." Reed contemplates in sweaty silence.

Little pixel profiles I did for my VN characters back in 2021

A 3x3 grid of little pixel character profiles. They contain information like pronouns and DnD-like stats, along with little personality blurbs. Character info (left to right, top to bottom): Chris - A rude and stubborn amnesiac. He actually does mean well. James - Uptight goody-goody is a look he's intentionally curating. 100% mom friend. Jay - Depressed and repressed. Speaking style feels like a computer that's low on RAM. Millie - Tends to experience emotions in extremes or not at all. Will fight you. Lena - Spunky gamer girl. Typing that out physically hurt me. Jack - A normie forcing himself to be a bully. Unfortunately fairly good at it. Emily - 1% evil, 99% hot gas. Really wants you to hate her, for some reason. Amelia - Stepford Smiler. Really wants you to like her, for some reason. Kade - Free-spirited loner. Doing trust-falls with them isn't recommended.

Did I...swear in front of him a minute ago...?? No, there's no way... I would have definitely noticed the moment I messed up... So why does it feel like I did?? It's been so long since I last fucked up on that, there's no way I-- No, I definitely said, 'goddamn'...GODDAMMIT!!"
