I know what you mean. I’ve been looking for someone who already did all the work that lists all DOS games by year with the average PC specs of each year, but also filters out home brew, adult games, and (for now) games not published in the US. Finally sorting them by their general popularity.

Here’s one example though: Albion looks like an interesting RPG that I never saw back in 90s and I do like RPGs.

Of those choices I would say Populus 2. It’s such a unique experience and I love its interface. We need more games with elaborate and bespoke interfaces like that.
