Did Tears of the Kingdom's story hit the mark for you?
Or did it leave too many questions unanswered after all that build-up?
Are you hoping for more from the next Zelda game in the series?

How do you feel about full voice acting in Zelda games (or even the upcoming movie) ?
Should Link always stay silent — or is it time to give him a voice?

Do you prefer traditional dungeons in Zelda games (Ocarina, TP) or Breath of the Wild-style open-ended Shrines & Divine Beasts?
➡️ What did each get right — or wrong?

Unlike previous Zelda games (other than BOTW), weapons in Tears of the Kingdom are designed to break quickly, encouraging players to constantly experiment with Fusions rather than rely on a single strong weapon. Would you (and would you) change this mechanic as the series moves forward?

Ilia, a childhood friend of Link, is one of the few NPCs in Zelda - Twilight Princess with a fully developed character arc, including memory loss and emotional recovery.

Aonuma said Tears of the Kingdom started as DLC, but evolved because there were too many ideas. If that’s the case, then the Zelda team could have been spinning up the next game years ago - perhaps we’ll be looking at another Breath of the Wild situation - something that feels fresh and exciting!

Breath of the Wild was the first Zelda game to place its true puzzle solving segments within 120 Shrines, instead of traditional dungeons. The game’s physics engine allows for emergent gameplay — players discovered many ways to tackles obstacles and defeat enemies, beyond what developers intended.

Twilight Princess uses orchestrated samples, not a live orchestra. Despite this, it was praised for having one of the most atmospheric and emotionally powerful soundtracks in the Zelda series.

The Ascend ability in Tears of the Kingdom was inspired by a developer debugging tool that let them phase through ceilings. The Zelda dev team liked it so much that they turned it into a core mechanic.

If you could place a single object anywhere in Hyrule that would change the Zelda series forever - what would you leave, and where would you hide it?

Show me your most peaceful moment in Zelda TOTK. No combat. Just Link, the wild, and quiet. 🍃🗻⛰️🏞️🌄

Twilight Princess was originally developed under the codename “Wind Waker 2”, before Nintendo pivoted to a more “realistic” art style for the Zelda series - in response to fan feedback and the variance in the Japanese / American gaming markets at the time.

In summary, the Zelda Notes app is more than a simple companion; it's a thoughtful extension of the wild era's world. By integrating Voice memories, Autobuild / item sharing, and global stats, it gives us a reason (beyond the visual and performance upgrades) to return to this iteration of Hyrule.
April 24, 2025 at 7:55 PM
Amiibo support is in as well — the usual cosmetic gear, resources, or themed materials unlocks. But, with Zelda Notes, you can now use each amiibo figure an extra time each day. Nicely coinciding with the release of 4 new amiibo featuring the TOTK sages Riju, Tulin, Yunobo, and Sidon.

The app also includes a Daily Bonus feature. Log in each day to receive a small reward — from items, to Zonai charges, to weapon repairs. These bonuses might not be huge, but they help smooth out those early or mid-game moments, for less experienced players, when short on resources.
April 24, 2025 at 7:55 PM
And yes — there’s item sharing too. You can send materials and Zonai devices to friends. Whether it’s helping someone finish a build, or giving your mate a few spare rockets, it adds a light social layer that Zelda games only occasionally dip in to.
April 24, 2025 at 7:55 PM
You’ll also be able to share Autobuild blueprints with friends through the app (or within the community online) using QR codes. Perfect if you've made a flying machine, a tank, or some monstrosity that actually works — now others can download it with a tap.

The app helps you locate those Voice Memory spots too. If you’re the kind who likes hoovering up every last bit of story, it’s the ideal way to finish a playthrough. It’s not just about ticking boxes, it’s about something I like to think is at the core of the Zelda series - enjoying the journey.
April 24, 2025 at 7:55 PM
Various characters (like Zelda, Rauru & Master Kohga) will narrate these Voice Memories. They add depth to the world and let us see Hyrule through someone else’s eyes — a rare thing in a often solitary series. It’s a small but meaningful way to bring the supporting cast to life, beyond cutscenes.

One standout feature: Voice Memories. These are audio lore drops we unlock by finding specific places. Think of them as location-based journals told through the eyes of other characters. They're scattered across the map — subtle narrative breadcrumbs waiting to be uncovered.
April 24, 2025 at 7:55 PM
It's integrated with our phone, not just Switch 2. That hopefully means we can plan out a session on the bus / during lunch — proper old-school “Zelda guidebook” vibes, just modernised. It’s surprisingly satisfying to chart a route or discuss next steps with friends, then complete it later at home.
April 24, 2025 at 7:55 PM
You can filter the map to focus on specific tasks — say, you want to clear every well, or hunt a full set of Bubbulfrogs. It’s ideal for that final clean-up phase many players enjoy - particularly as it provides stats, shared globally, to go alongside (e.g. how many specific enemies defeated).
April 24, 2025 at 7:55 PM
The app taps into your in-game progress. If you’ve already found a shrine or cleared a cave, it’ll show up. It’s a bit like having an interactive map that keeps track of where you’ve been — and what’s left to uncover. It makes retracing your steps far easier when you're chasing 100% completion.
April 24, 2025 at 7:55 PM
It’s a navigation companion. You’ll be able to use it to track locations you’ve found — like shrines, caves, wells, and yes, Korok seeds (if that's your jam). In a world this big, having a personal record of what you've uncovered is genuinely helpful.

A Zelda Notes Thread 📔

Nintendo’s upcoming Zelda Notes app might seem like a small thing but it’s shaping up to be one of the most quietly useful tools for fans of Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild. Here’s why it’s worth keeping an eye on 🧵 ⬇️
