I just now finished reading the second book, of the five, for Canada Reads. Etta and Otto and Russel and James, by Emma Hopper.
I have just finished reading Etta and Otto and Russell and James by Emma Hooper. This book took me 4 hours to read. If you are not used to books that do not use much in the way of punctuation it might give you a small challenge. I would suggest reading this book as slowly as you are able to. I found it to be quite beautifully written, and the author has a background in music, which one may pick up on in the writing style. Etta is 82 years old when she decides she wants to see the sea. Etta walks and during that time she is in and out of a dreamscape, memories come and go. The story is also told through letters, from her to Otto when he was in the war and from Otto to Etta. I don’t often read books in this style, a few, but not many. I enjoyed the read and believe this is a book that should be read twice, at least. The ending is left up to the reader, which I love.

I have read A Two-Spirit Journey by Ma-Nee Chacaby, with Mary Louisa Plummer.
I have read A Two-Spirit Journey, by Ma-Nee Chacaby, with Mary Louisa Plummer. This book took me 4 hours to read. It is an autobiography (told to Mary Louisa Plummer). At the end of the book is an interesting section on how “told to books” may be approached. I feel that Mary Louisa wrote with great care in keeping Ma-Nee’s voice. This is a difficult book to read as it concerns drug abuse, sexual abuse, and domestic abuse amongst other topics. Throughout the book, I always felt that Ma-Nee was striving to look toward a better future for herself and others. She never stopped trying to escape her addictions and she never stopped trying to help the many children that entered her life. I always find it so imporant to read the first hand accounts of people to have any chance in coming to understand a small portion of what their life has been and how I play a part in that for good or bad.

I can't pretend to know everything Doug has done, but this sounds despicable and in keeping with how he thinks and behaves. I wrote him, again, today. Of course, he won't care.
Dear Premier Doug Ford Doug Ford: "Unequivocally, Ontario and Canada stand with Washington." The above is what you have stated. Let me tell you a few things. The greater percentage of Canada is irate with the statements and treatment of Canada by the US President. That you would stand with a regime that has illegally threatened a sovereign nation shows how base and grasping you truly are. Canada does not stand with the USA at all. We are working to strengthen our alliances and trade with Europe and distancing ourselves each day from the USA. The population is refusing to buy US-made goods, cancelling vacations and even selling property in the US. You are a traitor to Canada. Mind you, I realize you are not alone here in Canada to be such a traitor, there are many, though we who are not traitors and Nazis still far outnumber those who are. I wish you the worst possible outcome in your bid to be reelected so that you may continue to betray Canada. Yours truly Carla J. Reid

I am a furious Canadian, furious at you for thinking this is the way to handle this horrible subject, to actually give validity to it. Are you CBC revelling in this idea? Instead, you should be doing programs about why Canada will NEVER be a state of the USA. Instead, you should be doing programs about how Danielle Smith and Doug Ford are willing to sell out Canada. Are you for Canada at all, CBC? Instead, you should be doing programs about how Canada is pulling away from the USA, and how we are forging new trade partners. We are a sovereign nation, we will never allow any nazi or any other country to dictate to us or to think they own us. We will never bend a knee to anyone. Trump is not running the show down there, and everything he says is a lie. Get your act together CBC this program is a disgrace.

I finished my book last night, I read a book on average every two days. I selected a new book on Libby (I love Libby) one of my favourite authors, Christopher Moore, The Stupidest Angel. If you want to laugh your socks off get it or read some of his other hilarious books. I stayed up way too late.

I spent 6 hours this morning writing and now I am not super friends with my keyboard so going to go and play some game, probably Rune Factory 3 which I am replaying.
