Do you have a recipe you like?

"Stochastic parrot" is a banger but really only useful to remind technologists of inherent limitations in the implementation.

For most creative work, I call it "distributed plagiarism engine that files the serial numbers off art" but it could be punchier

As a teen, I was definitely in the "wow, cool robot" mode of watching it. As an adult, the way that it's cautionary of transhumanism or looking purely through a lens of self and identity is really interesting.

I assume it's some deal where they got the rights to Predator and Dutch was bundled in there, but Machiko is owned by Dark Horse or something. The lady in the AvP movie is also clearly inspired by Machiko's arc, right down to getting anointed with the blood scar, but they didn't have rights.

That's absolutely fair, and I don't mean to say you should've derailed your main point to draw that particular line in the sand =)

Not to spoil the ending but... yeah, kinda? And specifically how merging is something like growth, evolution or ego death. What Oshii is saying about self or identity being a cage of comfortable stagnation we retreat into is radical because of how much sci-fi "others" that loss of self.

This is great, and I feel you on this one. One thing I always push back on though is "hallucination" the same way Machine Learning algorithms were branded "intelligence" as a marketing coup. It confers thought and complexity where there isn't any. They're trying the same now with "reasoning" models.

Yeah, doing quarter circles on a square gate took getting used to, but... it feels really good to be able to throw it into the diagonals. And of course, hitting a just frame on better buttons is way nicer.

I would argue that Ghost in the Shell (1995) is kind of about how "maybe diving headfirst into the LCL is good, actually."

I think I was on one of these EX2 Fight Sticks when I went to a VF meetup and played on a VSHG for the first time... That was the moment I realized what a nice stick really was like

I had a great time with The Polar Express for GBA as far as Holiday/wintry games go!

My freshman year of high school this upperclassman girl was like, "You kids gonna learn today" and put on a fansub of the ending to Sailor Stars and us DiC kids lost our fucking minds

Sifu is the perfect example of a game that has a skill iceberg. I've always seen the goal of the game to enter a flow state-- not memorization, but scaling the difficulty to the perfect point where it hits the sweet spot above boredom but below frustration.

Is there a big feature parity gap between it and competitors/free apps?

I had no idea! (And literally just made this face upon learning)

I think this is the first CD I bought from a Sam Goody. I used to be a little embarrassed of that fact, but like you said, I'm now just too old to care.

Looking at the way that Windows 11 degraded UI, puts AI tools in so marketers can brag about it to shareholders, and constantly nags about OneDrive + upsells, a lot of days I feel like I'd rather take my chances with an N-day vuln.

Some days, it be like that. You'll get em next time!
