tyranny = zero stars, do not recommend. who knew the apocalypse would be so cringe?
Folks in my hometown were horrified at this story because we trust and appreciate the Coast Guard so much here. They do so many rescues for the fishing boats and they're also our neighbors. It's a huge relief that they decided not to adopt this racist policy.

it's so funny to watch the far right White House press pool try to bait Trump to say something nasty about Mamdani and every time he's just like "nah this guy rocks"

between having to backtrack on encouraging racism *and* the Mexican signs oopsie, it's been a bit of a sad week for Hegseth and I love that for him (yes I know CG is under DHS but you just know he's bummed about the rebuke of the "potentially divisive symbols" policy)

We're seeing again and again that immediate and forceful public backlash can derail the agenda of this fascist regime. It's exhausting, but we have to keep making our voices heard. Because it works!

I hate that everything has to be such a fight. But yes, it's encouraging that public outcry can still move the needle. Decent journalism still happens, even in papers that have largely capitulated, and we the people still have power (and we will have to use it over and over again).

Some wins, actually! A reminder that Things Can Change

They all deserve justice. I can't recall if it was that Psaki interview (saw several yesterday) but a survivor mentioned they went around the table comparing when they met Epstein/when they made police reports and realized the abuse should have been stopped YEARS earlier. The system failed them.

Yes, that was my first thought when I heard the trillion dollar news: ohhh so we're really gonna do this Lazarus thing huh? The tech bros are already scheming to carve up the world into "network states" because apparently dystopias are like how-to manuals for these wannabe technofascists.
The Bitcoin bros who want to crowdfund a new country
How a group of Silicon Valley tech entrepreneurs plan to create "the network state."

Every issue has been amazing so far, but this entire series feels a bit too prescient at the moment—in earlier read-throughs, I found myself wondering if post-democratic technofeudalism could become reality. Now that we're seeing the world's 1st tech trillionaire?

LAZARUS feels closer every day...

Absolutely, we should believe the women. Also, I watched Jen Psaki's interview with a victim + family members tonight and they said there is real fear of retaliation by powerful men if the survivors named them, so they feel it shouldn't be their burden—they want them to be named via the files.

Yes we've gotta take ALL the wins we can these days, no matter how small—and this was a pretty big one, actually!!

A good reminder that things *can* change. That Trump is weak, not invincible, certainly not all-powerful. And that maybe (maybe?) Republicans are starting to see that.
