Then he grew up 😉

A self-portrait he took not long after uni, about the time I met him. His chums had given him the nickname of Critter.

Peter the storyteller.

Peter as a young lad in the 60s. Ran across the pic on my cell today while looking for something else.

I could go seriously nuts over the art prints. And partridgeberry tea from Newfoundland? Gotta try that.

This print really grabbed me because of the turtles. Rare to see turtles that aren't sea turtles.

My goodness! Never heard either nickname for a pencil sharpener - but every classroom had a Boston™️ sharpener mounted to a doorframe, and at home we had a desktop one - so no real need.

From an 87 year old, no less - Joyce Carol Oates.

Cool that Boze the Library Owl (@sketchesbyboze.bsky.social ) was quoted in the article:

Today's stats on that share. Now, today, I think I'd like it to hit 100, just because it's a nice round number.
November 12, 2025 at 4:18 PM
Well, I won't see numbers like this again until I go back to summer tires - 26.2 mpg - it'd be higher, but I started using the remote start a couple weeks ago.

I always forget how noisy the studded snows are.

Last fill was nearly 2 weeks ago. That's nice.

Hey @reuters.com , Why are you accepting adverts from ICE? This was at the bottom of your link.

Post you from a different era

2013 - Can you find me? From an indoor training session for the Search and Rescue group I was part of back then. The first time I joined them, I got buried in a snow cave for the dogs to find.

1989, Cheshire Fair. My first team of working steers, and showing the boss's cows. To (mis)quote Bob Dylan, "when my hair was still red".

George and Leroy were named after brothers at the farm across the river from the first farm I worked on.

Oops, added a 3rd one when G+L were about 6 months old.

Another from that discovery list. I'd never heard of this group/series, but I'm going to have to look up the Grateful Dead bluegrass tribute that's referenced in the screen shot.

This is from the day after Obama won in 2008 - It's Amy Ray's arm - she and her band at the time gave us a great show in Burlington VT.

The larch tree I went to look at last weekend turned gold during the week.

Some froggy tonight up on the hill not far from where I work.

Noticed this beauty yesterday, the most vibrant color I've seen this fall - sure highlights the difference the drought made. This is a commercial property, and I'm sure they watered the little grass strip in front, and the maples benefitted.

Played my own game of "Stump the Dendrologist" yesterday.

Thought at first this was a grey birch (betula populifolia) because of the grey bands, but I stopped to look at it when I saw the really rough bark, then noticed the height.

This old guy is a poplar (aka quaking aspen (populous tremuloides)

Grrr - the not-sees (phonetic spelling) have been defacing property in Concord and Plymouth NH Glad people are trying to remove them.
October 27, 2025 at 2:32 AM
Went rambling dirt back roads today, stopped at two old cemeteries. Nothing really pulls me in a direction like seeing a sign like this.

Have a bunch of cellphone pix to put up, but not tonight.
