(5/5) I understand it's hard to avoid everything running on smartphones now, so if you MUST give your kid one please consider a Gabb or Bark phone that has GPS, NO social media, lets you remotely control access to apps, features, and contacts, set time limits, and alerts you to anything suspicious.

(4/5) In a sleepy little village like ours, it's all too easy to believe something like this would never happen. But it can. And it does. Internet predators are a danger as old as the internet itself. The only thing that's changed is having access to the entire world from your pocket at all times.

(3/5) The girls were reported missing after not making it home, one phone was found left behind and the other was shut off, the text/call history was pulled from the carrier and this guy's number was identified and tracked down. It goes to show just how important those first 24 hours are.

(2/5) This guy was someone one of the girls was talking with online. He traveled halfway across the country, stayed at a local motel overnight, met the girls at a school sporting event, and took them over 500 miles further across the country before getting arrested the following morning.
