I agree that the BBC has made plenty of bad decisions in the last twenty years or so, but what about all the good ones? I believe it provides us all with an unique cultural anchor, without which the country could go even more seriously adrift .

I agree about that edit. Some recent practice uses quick fades to indicate that a cut has been made. That's better - viewers aren't fooled into thinking the edited dialogue is continuous.

Of course it's not, but inserting a noddy shot over a cut is. It gives the false impression of a continuous dialogue.
