Doesn't it require a vote on future RIFs meaning the legislature has to own it and can't just pawn off responsibility

Most Americans oppose RIFs, but a good-government group says anti-layoff messaging needs to be improved
A Partnership for Public Service researcher said that there needs to be more focus on the consequences of laying off federal employees versus the government workers themselves because “we found throug...

I fail to see a path that goes better for the Dems and at this point is harm reduction. Plus with the shutdown people are reminded how much the gov actually does for them. Sure if it had pushed against Thanksgiving it might have been more damaging for the GOP but at what cost? And again they...

The GOP got a Pyrrhic victory out of this, but that can be made a proper victory for them if the Dem base revolts
I'd like anyone else to paint a realistic path where the Dems magically got more out of this or they realistically thought enough of the GOP would vote against Trump's wishes

But if we act owned and they get "Dems in Disarray" headlines they get to claim a victory from the jaws of defeat
Instead we need to say they were weak and folded and we got the gov working again instead of drowned in the bathtub

Don't pretend this is what Trump or the GOP wants. This forces them to deal with healthcare still without the background of the shutdown and I doubt this will help their poll numbers. What will help their poll numbers is Dems being mad because their base care more about owning the libs
