I would suggest the 1977 animated film "Wizards" made by Ralph Bakshi and a bunch of former Disney AND Warner animators (american animation was in a dismal state when the movie was made). Totally feels like there are multiple scenes missing, but it is very creative and unique.

I saw this when it aired on network tv. I tried describing it to friends, but they assumed I was making it up. It took YEARS for me to find it and prove them wrong!
