They rely on cloud cover, damp soil, and soil temps of around 10C to do their jobs.

There are a variety of different nematodes that will attack different pests.

I encourage everyone to check out these neat little garden warriors!

We like spraying them to combat click beetle larvae - wire worms - that are common in growing areas that were previously grass.

Wire worms eat holes out of root crops like potatoes, radishes, carrots, and turnips.

🌱 If you’re lacking in the seed department - don’t worry! We’ll have extra seeds to give away!

This method is especially useful for low germination rate seeds, or seeds with longer germination like hot peppers.

One final note - this only works with warm-start seeds - not cold start (herbs like thyme & rosemary) 6/6

Check your seeds every day and plant in potting soil as soon as a seed is sprouted. Seeds won’t germinate all at once. Just remove sprouting seeds & put the rest back in the instapot.

Put the steaming basket in the instapot so your seeds aren’t touching the bottom, but are raised up.

Add water to the pot and fill so the water level stays below the seeds.

Set your instapot to the ‘yogurt’ setting on low temperature (91C). 4/6

Place your seeds on the wet side, then fold the two plays back together. The overall dampness should be like a wrung-out sponge.

Carefully place the paper towel in a sealable ziplock bag. Close the bag and leave some air in it.

Instapot time!

First - cut a full size 2-ply paper towel sheet into quarters. Take one quarter and pry the layers apart.

Use a spray bottle to evenly wet one side of the now split paper towel. 2/6

I’ve started having new symptoms & I think it may be Cushing syndrome on top of all my other illnesses.

I honestly hope it is because at least it’s treatable… If I’m lucky I have Cushing & not myalgic encephalomyelitis after all. If I’m unlucky it’s both.

Please send positive vibes 💜

Seeds must be completely dry before storing & they take longer to dry than you’d think!

Store your seeds in an old pill bottle or a paper coin envelope. Make sure to label them with the tomato variety & the date. 9/9

Once the seeds are completely clean - spread the seeds on a sheet of wax paper to dry. Saran wrap works in a pinch. Don’t use paper towel - your seeds will stick to it & they’re annoying to get off.

Let your seeds air dry in a cool, dry place away from sunlight for 5-8 days. /8

Pour your fermented seed mixture into the collander and use tap water to wash your seeds.

Any remaining tomato pulp is soft by this point, and can be removed using your fingers by rubbing the tomato seeds against the colander under the running water. 7/

After 3-6 days the solution will start to smell earthy & funky.

Now it’s time to save your seeds!

Use a colander that has smaller holes than your seeds. I use a flour sifter.

Fermentation needs air to work.

Mix the solution by gentle swirling the liquid twice a day, everyday. This keeps the solution aerated & helps the fermentation process. /5

Add at least 1 inch of distilled water to the jar, or enough water to match the volume of goop - whichever is greater (more goop = more water)

Cover the lid with a piece of paper towel. Secure with an elastic band or your mason jar ring. Do NOT use plastic or a mason jar lid. /4

For large tomatoes - cut them sideways (logitudinally) to separate top & bottom for easy seed access (pictured below).

For smaller cherry tomatoes - cut an X on the bottom & squeeze the pulp & seeds out.

Make your distilled water (chlorine from tap water will kill the good bactetia used in fermentation).

Fill a large cup or glass container half full (I reuse clean & washed yogurt containers). Microwave for 12 minutes & allow to cool. /2
