Same. The only thing about that fandom that I think is kind of backwards from this image is that #2 (composed mostly of consistent players) actually does interact with the work more than 1# (mostly people who just play when new content drops and who don't really care beyond that).

Actually applying the law is the real issue, because the AI companies:
1) Can't really reliably stop it because of how these systems work
2) Have no innate interest in trying
3) Have a stranglehold on government and business to an extent where it's hard to find the leverage mechanism to force them

Yeah, it makes sense to codify it at a level above AI, since creating pornography of real, non-consenting people wouldn't be any less harmful if you did it all-manually with photoshop.

I guess we could also ascribe this to the death of sincerity in general.
Used to be you became a journalist to unearth the truth, and the business side was a survival mechanism to help you do that. Now, having ideals like that is cringe, and all that matters is generating engagement and making bank.

I guess, ultimately, the hinging question is, what _actually_ happens after there's a civilian dictatorship and the polity is irreparably broken?
Is there any hope that we can come to terms with our collective shortcomings, or is hallucination indisposable to the existence of civilization?

I'm actually completely convinced that we could have done exactly that and gotten away with it (In the sense that Desert Storm, specifically, involved the expulsion of the invading Iraqi army from a third country), especially if done early enough.

Language is just one tool created and used by humans (for the purpose of transcribing/sharing thoughts which exist separately from it), whereas an LLM exists solely within the confines of language (and even then only a static snapshot of one, which diminishes it further).
