Network + exam tomorrow, am I nervous? Yes. Am I confident? Yes. My practice exams have been really good score wise. So I think I got this!

Studying for the CompTIA Net+ it seems wayyyy more dry than the CCNA. Its so much more boring, but I can confirm that I've learned something. I'm on the final stretch hopefully I'll take practice exams next week 🤞

Just found out about ram disk, from my understanding it's a way of making a high speed cache? Or, did it exist during a time where SSDs weren't common, so ram disks are used for high performance computing? If not, am I at least on the right track?

I just spent 2 hours troubleshooting an odd err in Pyside "QTimer must be ran in main thread, please use QThread" instead. I had to use a Signal mechanism, I got it working, however that was annoying because instead of attempting to fix it. I was searching for what caused it. But now I know. SMDH 😔

1. Curiosity sakes. From my understanding the reason behind the TikTok ban was data confidentiality and us citizen security integrity. My question is. how difficult would it be to create a US version of TikTok where our data is managed by us, yet, we can still receive data from outside the US?

As someone who's never done compsci at any level high-school or college. Would I be able to be proficient in rust or c++? I get the fundamentals of how computers interact with Componenets and firmware, not at the deepest level. But I have a broad understanding. I'm sure comp Sci would help

In python + MongoDB I made a basic social media app where you could make posts, chat with users, etc. However I originally used a time based poling method that was around 3.5 seconds to give it a real time-ish feel. I just implemented web sockets and it's instantaneous. Absolute game changer

Curious if I'm in the minority here. Anyone else who programs and listens to rock or metal music? I think the traditional approach is something usually calm or mellow for most?

Be me this morning:
Wakes up a half hour early(5:30am) to tornado watch warning on phone (current mood: calm) , 10 mins later sirens go off(current mood: smol panic) , town group chat mentions tornado on ground(current mood: big panic), proceeds to high tail it to local storm shelter. Sees friends!

Question about API development, in the scenario you're running a social media app, is loading comments for example, that would be it's own "endpoint" or not necessarily? I guess to clarify, is "initially loading comments" and "loading more comments" different (given x comments are loaded at a time)?

What is your preferred cloud provider of choice? I use linode after swapping from AWS due to reach-ability issues (not caused by me), I belive Google has their own, digital ocean is another, and I think equinix or one of the bigger ISPs are cloud capable? Isn't there a big EU one also?

How does this app handle "tags" from a backed perspective? I get their done as # (tag) but algorithmically and logically how are they handled? This peaks my interest.

Wanting to know where to go from python, Ive been contemplating C#, but GOlang also seems interesting, I ultimately want to do API and backend stuff, but I guess all languages are capable of that? Any suggestions?

So I tried something, albeit functional, not entirely the most optimized or logical approach. Making my Py App routinely call to MongoDB, essentially making it real-time. Now seeing the performance downside on both sides. Gives me the incentive to develop an API server to overcome this.

New to Bluesky and somewhat new to software development, and I want to grow and do big things? Is there a potential way I can help further Bluesky?
