A magazine isn’t going to give children instructions for breaking the law, no matter how unjust those laws are.

I wonder if he’s ever had a good relationship with anyone. Even his wife seems to hate him
January 31, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Giving you a run for your money I’m sure

It’s worse than that. Hegseth is a sycophant whose goal is to restructure the military with loyalists. The director of the FBI has an enemies list and Trump floated deporting political enemies. And now they’re offering deferred retirement to 2 million feds so they can replace them with loyalists too

Elections have consequences. I’m not exactly thrilled about it but until the average voter really sees how disastrous conservative policy is, we’ll keep sleepwalking into Republican led governments.

Journalism isn’t profitable anymore. The poor NYT’s hand is forced. They have no choice but to cozy up to fascists. /s

Agreed. This is what folks on Medicare overwhelmingly voted for. Why try to save them from themselves?
Let them see what a conservative trifecta really looks like

‘Mortgage rates are historically low’ ignores that prices are outrageously high
April 19, 2024 at 2:47 PM
Oh well good luck with that I guess lol.
Everywhere I go I see people actually lining up to use the kiosks and self-checkout lines while the one or two front facing employees these companies bothered to staff stand around trying to look busy
April 11, 2024 at 10:19 PM
Kiosk manufacturers aren’t going to voluntarily price themselves out of the market (regardless of them being fully automated or using virtual waiters).
And frankly, I don’t see there being much public motivation to force politicians to put more people into minimum wage service industry jobs.

Blame the republicans for shutting down their own border bill. It passed in the Dem controlled senate and Biden was willing to sign it.
April 5, 2024 at 9:49 PM
You’re better than this, NYT. This is irrelevant nonsense.

If only fruit came in some sort of a natural wrapping that protected the part people wanted to eat.

Is there any situation where Mike Johnson isn’t remembered in the history books as a laughing stock?

With rising questions of legitimacy of the Supreme Court, it makes you wonder what’s stopping CO (or anyone) from ignoring a verdict they dislike?
The Supreme Court doesn’t have any way of enforcing their decisions.

“Catering to”? Just say it clearly:

They’re being lobbied (read: bribed)

It’s not about nominating the “best” candidate. Just the candidate with the best chance of winning.
Being the incumbent is a big benefit. Naturally the Democrats won’t give that up.
As for Trump, like it or not, he’s massively popular among Republicans.
February 9, 2024 at 3:28 AM
Seems like there’s two separate camps. People who prefer a site be so massive that you can get (can’t avoid) a constant stream of new stuff like Instagram, Reddit, Twitter.
And people who prefer smaller sites that don’t (can’t) bombard you with content like small subreddits, Bluesky, others Im sure

I find it hard to believe that someone intent on stalking a celebrity would need a Twitter account about planes to help them learn where that celebrity owns a home (and that home’s address)
February 6, 2024 at 7:42 PM
Working for Trump is like getting scammed in RuneScape. Obviously *you’re* too smart to get scammed. You know all the tricks.
Before you know it you’re naked in Falador park with nothing but a burnt lobster in your inventory, or suing Trump for unpaid legal fees while hair dye drips down your face

Guilty of ignoring obvious cries for help from a mentally ill teen, pleas from school faculty to get him help, and (knowing all of that) buying him a gun.
February 6, 2024 at 7:26 PM
“Taylor Swift’s private jet is at XYZ airport” doesn’t really facilitate stalking. Anyone that dedicated can and will find that information regardless.

Why do it? Why crochet and post your projects. He’s got a weird hobby I guess.

This information is public (and rightfully so). Stopping him does nothing to make this information less accessible
