I like programming languages, systems, math, and retro computers
It’s used in a course I’m taking right now so unfortunately I think I have to dive right in. I’m sure it’ll be fine—just haven’t really had that “wow what is going on” moment with respect to syntax since I started programming. But at the same time that’s pretty cool!

It’s just so different from anything I’ve touched before I’m in uncharted territory here

I get that, I started out doing web dev too and it also seemed a bit intimidating—CSAPP is a pretty great book if you ever wanna check it out, and tinkering with Arduino/raspberry pi stuff is never a bad idea for learning more about this stuff either!

Oooh that’s cool! Well done data visualization is the best!! I like low level stuff and tooling generally :)

Nobody really judges all films because a lot are bad or mediocre, though. Even considering barrier to entry, shovelware is something like shooting a short film on your phone and posting it on youtube. It feels like games get this treatment disproportionately.

That’s fine. It’s also fine for that to shape other people’s impression of your opinion.

I’m referring to people who say “unlike other works in [x medium/genre], this is actually good” as opposed to saying “even though I don’t typically enjoy [x medium/genre], I enjoyed this.” One is a blanket statement on quality, the other is just giving context for someone’s feelings.

What type of computer/programming stuff do you like :0

This is gorgeous I love your style

It’s valid to dislike things! I think that sentiment comes across as condescending, though, even if it’s not meant to be. No need to put down an entire genre or medium to qualify your enjoyment of a thing.

I’ve also been rewatching Clannad! I’m trusting in tomoyo and kyou here

Very interesting. I’ve lived in the same apartment complex for almost my entire life and do know some people who’ve been here as long as I can remember, though that’s rarer because of rent increases. I do think there’s something unifying about occupying very similarly structured living spaces.

You get to know the people in your building and come to terms with the fact that most won’t stay long. They leave often compared to communities that live in houses. I’d like to think that being exposed to that transience while growing up had some impact on my worldview today.

As a big city dweller I can confirm this. All my friends are ghosts and I’m currently typing from beyond the grave.

At first I thought maybe they weren’t planning on labeling AI content to try and create the illusion of a larger/more active user-base. But apparently they’re thinking of having an AI feed…? I honestly can’t determine who’d ask for this

Really like the gameboy and portable consoles in general—the constraints of being handheld lead to some really neat design decisions. Have you looked at the Dreamcast at all? Never owned one but think it’s extremely cool on a technical level
