The saying "April showers bring May flowers" seemed to have not applied to Pennsylvania this year as parts of the Commonwealth saw over double the amount of rain they usually do.

PA will be seeing one more storm before the end of a very wet May. Between Friday evening and midnight Sunday, areas such as Johnstown and Harrisburg may see over an inch of rain. The Storm Prediction Center indicates these areas as having a marginal flash flood and t-storm risk. More to come.

On this last day before the start of finals week here at PSU, Centre County, and much of PA, is under a Winter Weather Advisory. Snow accumulations will range from 1-6” depending on elevation. I expect State College to receive 1-4”. More updates to come.

UPDATE - 12/4/24 4:55PM: NWS has issued a new snowfall map, and they are slowly leaning towards my early call of C-1” of snow in the valleys. Snowfall forecasts have gone down throughout all of central and south-central PA.

Snow is starting to fall and winds are picking up here in State College.

UPDATE 12/4 2:38PM: NWS released an updated snowfall map for PA. Not many changes compared to this morning. At the moment I’m sticking with my call of C-1” in the valleys. NWS overestimated the last snow system a few weeks ago, I think this will be a similar scenario.

An Alberta Clipper will swoop in and bring snow across Pennsylvania between today and Friday. The ridges will be seeing upwards of a foot of snow, while the valleys will get C-1” of snow. Updated outlooks will come out as the day progresses.

BREAKING - 11/21/24 12:59PM: Centre County, PA is now under a winter weather advisory between 11/21/24 1PM to 11/23/24 7AM. NWS says 2-4” of snow is expected with wind gusts reaching 35mph.

The National Weather Service has released its expected snowfall map for central PA. State College is expected to receive 1.5” of snow, while the Susquehanna Valley is set to receive 1-1.2”. This map is likely to be updated as the day progresses.
