The system is broken, and it's by design. For millions of people, life keeps getting harder: wages stagnate, bills rise and our public services are pushed to breaking point. Meanwhile, a tiny elite continues to hoard more wealth, and the establishment parties offer little more than managed decline. Across the country, there is a clear appetite for real change. People know the status quo is broken and they are looking for something fundamentally different. Reform is attempting to exploit that anger, but it is just another wing of the establishment. Nigel Farage scapegoats migrants and minorities to distract from the fact he is pushing the same failed neoliberal agenda. And the thing all establishment parties have in common? They all lick the boots of billionaires that fund them. That's why we must provide a genuine alternative to the established order: Your Party - a proudly socialist, anti-Zionist, anti-imperialist party rooted in a mass movement. With more than 50,000 members, we are already the largest socialist party since the 1940s. A party capable of winning power, taking on the rotten establishment, and delivering the transformative change Britain urgently needs. Our country is in crisis. The situation demands more than just a wealth tax, or any other single policy. It requires a fundamental transformation of society: workers running their industries, free and accessible public transport, universal childcare, and a commitment to building council housing comparable with the post-war period. It means rebuilding our society from the ground up, and giving everyone the chance to live the good life. 1/2 The Your Party founding process has been challenging, to say the least. I know many members are feeling frustrated and disillusioned, but the need for this party has not disappeared. The opportunity to reshape our society has not been foreclosed by a run of regrettable media coverage. Debate and disagreement are part of any healthy political project, but they must be conducted in a respectful manner. Our founding conference next weekend in Liverpool is an opportunity to put the distractions and drama behind us and refocus on what actually matters: our members, our movement and our shared political vision of socialism. Like all socialists of my generation, I have an incredible amount of respect for Jeremy. As co-founders of Your Party, we owe it to our members and to the wider movement to work together and take on this corrupt establishment. As I have always said, subject to members' vote, I wish to co-lead this party with Jeremy, and I believe that conference should have the opportunity to vote on that option. We cannot let this opportunity slip through our fingers; the stakes are far too high. As a young Muslim woman who regularly receives racist Islamophobic abuse and death threats, I feel the visceral danger of Reform and its far right agenda - a threat that millions across the country also recognise and fear. We must all unite to stop Farage from getting the keys to Downing Street. Let's make this the moment we get the party back on track. The time is now. She didn’t answer the question, calling it “beneath contempt”.

The only thing beneath contempt is her pound-shop Powellism. Shame on her & this Labour government.

Before my Question Time appearance, there was an attempt to sabotage the movement we’re building.

But the stakes are too high.

With inequality rising, child poverty deepening, migrants under attack & an emboldened far-right, we must keep fighting.

It’s socialism or barbarism.

What’s missing isn’t money, it’s political will. Establishment parties bankrolled by billionaires aren’t going to tax their donors.

On this day 85 years ago, nearly 500 Luftwaffe bombers devastated the city, destroying the medieval church of St Michael’s and taking hundreds of lives.

Today is a powerful reminder of Coventry’s resilience and remembrance.

The UK cannot claim ignorance. British-made arms are being found in Sudan, where mass atrocities are unfolding.

I’ve written to the Foreign Secretary urging an immediate suspension of all arms exports to the UAE and urgent diplomatic action to stop the violence:
House of Commons headed paper: The Rt Honourable Yvette Cooper MP Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Sent via email 11 November 2025 Dear Foreign Secretary, Re: The Humanitarian Crisis in Sudan I am writing to express deep concern over the catastrophic humanitarian crisis unfolding in Sudan. Since the outbreak of war in 2023, the country has descended into one of the world's most severe humanitarian disasters. Recent reports of mass killings by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El Fasher, where thousands are believed to have been slaughtered, are horrifying. Satellite imagery now shows vast bloodstained patches of land marking the scale of these atrocities. These massacres are only the latest in a long series of brutal crimes committed against Sudanese civilians. The estimated death toll now stands at around 150,000, with over 13 million people displaced - nearly nine million of them within Sudan's borders'. More than half of those affected are children. The magnitude of this suffering should stir the conscience of any government that professes to defend human rights and international law. Yet despite these horrors, your government continues to export arms to the United Arab Emirates - a state that, according to multiple credible reports, including from the United Nations, has been supplying weapons to the RSF2. UN Security Council documents indicate that British-made arms have been found in Sudan'. The UK cannot claim ignorance: these atrocities are occurring in plain sight. The Labour government has both a moral and legal obligation to immediately suspend all arms exports to the UAE where there is a clear risk that British weapons may be used to commit or facilitate war crimes and crimes against humanity. Instead of enabling further violence, the UK should use its diplomatic influence to support peace. It must press all parties to agree to an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and to engage in a credible political process that lays the groundwork for lasting stability and justice in Sudan. Last month I wrote to the Foreign Secretary about the detention of British journalist Sami Hamdi by U.S. authorities — a deeply troubling case for press freedom and human rights.

I’m relieved to hear that he’s set to be released and will return home to his family soon.
House of Commons headed letter: The Rt Honourable Yvette Cooper MP Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Sent via email 29 October 2025 Dear Foreign Secretary, Re: Urgent concern regarding the detention of British journalist Sami Hamdi by U.S. authorities I am writing to raise my serious concerns about the case of Sami Hamdi, a British citizen, journalist and political commentator whose visa was revoked by the U.S. Department of State and who was subsequently detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at San Francisco International Airport. Mr Hamdi entered the U.S. on 19 October 2025 on a visitor visa for public engagements and was on a speaking tour when his visa was revoked on 24 October 2025. Shortly thereafter, he was detained by ICE and is pending removal. Advocacy groups including the International Federation of Journalists have expressed serious concern that his detention appears to be linked to his public commentary and criticism of Israeli government policy and U.S. foreign policy alignments. Given the profound implications of this case for free expression and human rights, I urge you to: • Raise Mr Hamdi's case at the highest diplomatic levels with your U.S. counterpart as a matter of urgency. • Request immediate formal consular access to Mr Hamdi. • Press the U.S. authorities for a full and transparent explanation of the grounds for his visa revocation and detention. • Demand Mr Hamdi's return home safely without delay. • Publicly challenge the apparent use of immigration enforcement as a tool of political repression. I appreciate your urgent attention to this matter and would welcome any updates on the steps that can be taken to ensure Mr Hamdi's safe and immediate return home to his family. I’ve written to David Lammy demanding an urgent review of their detention and full respect for their rights:
House of Commons headed paper: The Rt Honourable David Lammy MP Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice Sent via email 11 November 2025 Dear Justice Secretary, Re: Detention Conditions of Palestine Action Activists I am writing to express deep concern over the continued detention of Palestine Action activists who have been held on remand well beyond the standard 182-day pre-trial custody limit for the Crown Court. Six of these activists have reportedly begun an open-ended hunger strike in protest at their detention conditions and the government's recent proscription of Palestine Action. Members of 'Filton 24' have now been imprisoned for over a year, with trials scheduled as far ahead as 2026 and 2027. It is profoundly troubling that individuals accused of non-violent direct action are being detained without trial for such extraordinary periods. The prolonged and punitive use of remand in these circumstances risks amounting to political imprisonment in all but name. The activists have reported facing "systematic abuse" and "politically-motivated treatment" by prison authorities - including segregation, the withholding of mail, denial of medical care, restrictions on visits and the forcible removal of a keffiych worn as a hijab during prayer'. It is a matter of grave national concern that UN Special Rapporteurs have felt compelled to raise these issues with your government, expressing alarm over the alleged mistreatment of Palestine Action activists and the misuse of counter-terrorism legislation to impose harsher detention conditions. While none of the activists have been charged with terrorist offences, the prosecution has alleged a "terrorism connection," invoking counter-terrorism powers to extend their detention. The proscription of Palestine Action in July 2025 cannot lawfully or ethically be applied retrospectively to conduct that occurred before that date. In light of these concerns, I urge you to: 1. Order an immediate review of all remand and bail decisions in these cases, ensuring full compliance with the 182-day custody time limit and the principle of liberty before trial. 2. Guarantee that no retrospective or indirect application of counter-terrorism powers is being used against defendants whose alleged actions predate the proscription of Palestine Action. 3. Ensure humane detention conditions, including access to legal counsel, correspondence, visitation and healthcare - especially given the hunger strike now underway. 4. Initiate an urgent review and reversal of the proscription of Palestine Action, to uphold the UK's commitment to the rights to freedom of expression, association and peaceful protest. I would be grateful for your urgent response detailing the steps your department is taking to address these concerns and to ensure that the rights and wellbeing of those currently detained are fully protected.
